Solar Energy Project – Update
In March 2023, we lamented the fact that several years ago COHH paid to be connected to the Haiti power grid, but for the past year the grid has been intermittent and lately non-existent. We’ve had to use inverters and batteries as a backup to the grid and the generator to keep the batteries charged. I has been more challenging with fuel being not only hard to find in unadulterated form, but also tripled in price due to runaway inflation and domestic turmoil. To help mitigate these conditions, we undertook raising funds to install a solar energy system to replace the grid and the inverter backup.
After several months of fundraising followed by several weeks of identifying a contractor for the project, we are pleased to report that our solar energy system is now installed. It will replace our reliance on the grid and our cost of fuel while preserving the life of our generator.
In a country where success is hard to come by, we are indeed extremely grateful for the generosity of our donors and diligence of our staff in Haiti for achievement of the solar project installation. We have indeed been blessed again and again. Thanks be to God.
