Margaret’s Garden – Helping COHH

Margaret Pape, a deceased member of the First Baptist Church of White Plains, NY, was a treasure, one of those special souls who brought people together, no matter what their age, doing good things for good causes, while building up the body of Christ. Sadly, renal cell cancer took her life much too soon in March of 2010. Though her absence left a void in First Baptist life, Margaret’s legacy of faith, love, and service lives on in the mission and ministry of First Baptist through Margaret’s Garden.

All through the year, led by Carl Hamby and the youth of First Baptist, the members lovingly raise vegetables and herbs to share and sell, with all of the proceeds divided evenly between the Center of Hope (Haiti) and Westchester Habitat for Humanity. We are indeed grateful for their making the Center of Hope (Haiti) a priority in their mission work.

Not unlike the children at First Baptist, the children of Center of Hope (Haiti) have also become avid gardeners - planting a variety of crops that will be used during the school year for the meals of the day. We are also grateful for the parents and caregivers of our children who have joined in the work of preparing the ground for planting, cultivating the crops  and participating in the harvests. We are indeed blessed by the community of interest.
