Keeping Our Eyes On Our Mission
The Future of Haiti..... The Children
This year is COHH’s 17th year in Haiti. Over that time, we have experienced the Great Earthquake of 2010, other natural disasters, riots and political upheavals. We have had to adapt and to adjust as warranted by the experience. Our Hinche community has been resilient and supportive. And, we have been blessed in ways we will never know that have allowed our continued existence and progress. We thank all of those who have prayed for our well-being.
Commitment To Our Mission
COHH is committed to the success of our children. We are grateful for the commitment of our staff to this common goal. Although the turmoil of the day may disrupt our schedules, there are things we are committed to do even when shut down in order to achieve our mission:
- We provide over 300 meals each day to our children and staff. Without these meals, some of them would not otherwise have anything to eat.
- We pay our staff of 33 adults even when we are shut down. Our staff is dependent upon COHH to feed, clothe and house their families.
- We incur increased costs for food, fuel, goods and services due to the scarcity of such items in the market.
Overall, every disruption results in higher operating costs for COHH. COHH does not receive government funds or have an endowment. COHH raises its operating funds every year by appealing to potential supporters. Unfortunately, it appears that 2021 will be very challenging in a COVID-19 and turmoil environment.
