Pray For Haiti…COHH Update
A Country In Turmoil
We are indeed sadden by the turmoil that now encompasses Haiti. Haiti, a beautiful country with a beautiful people continues to struggle politically and domestically. We ask for prayers for better days and hope for the future of the country and the people. Some of you have asked about the impact of the events on the operations at COHH. While we are indeed impacted, thus far, we are managing at this critical time in our school schedule.
COHH Adjusts School Schedules
Because of the recent events, COHH is making adjustments in its schedules for the children. A government communique in the Monitor, an official newspaper, states that no activities can take place for a few days, including school activities. We have received documents from the Department of Education for our 9th graders who were scheduled to take the National Exams on July 12th stating that they will now take them on July 19 through July 21. We will resume regular school activities on the July 19
Graduation for the 9th grade class is scheduled for August 8th. Due to COVID, it will be a small event. Once the National Exams results are in, we will enroll the students who pass the National Exam for 10th grade in a private Catholic school. All of the children are expected to pass the National Exams.
The summer months are used to select candidates for our incoming first grade class. We will select 30 of the 92 applicants for the 1st grade. They will be divided into 2 groups of 15 and assessed over a 4-week period. Based on the assessment, 14 of the applicants will be selected for the incoming first grade class. School is slated to open on September 6, 2021.
We Remain Committed To Our Children
Given the current state of affairs in the country, we will remain alert and make adjustments as needed to protect our children and provide for their continued education.
Thank you for your concern and support.
