Smiling Faces – Dentists & Chidren

Haiti Children Volunteers

Jocelyne Telson, a long time friend of COHH  wrote us in February  asking whether she could bring a team of dentists to visit our orphanage and school in Hinche. We responded in the affirmative and in June she sent another email saying, "This is to let you know that Dr. Alfred Stines, a group of dentists and I will come to your facility in Hinche on Monday August 11th, early in the morning.  We will need a fairly large space to install the mobile dental clinic which includes at least ten of our chairs, preferably in an area with good natural daylight." Our friends arrived on the 11th with 20 dentists from Michigan. We provided the physical set requested and they set about providing extensive dental care to our children and other children and adults in the community. Jocelyne later remarked about the excellent condition of the children's teeth. We have been fortunate enough to receive dental assistance from visitors twice this year and once from the local hospital. Assuring that the children have appropriate healthcare is as important as assuring them a proper education. They need both to become the leaders of the future in their country.

Thank you Jocelyne for your ongoing support of COHH. We also extend our heartiest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Stine and the other dentists and assistants for taking taking time out of their schedules to visit our children and community in Hinche. We have indeed been blessed by your visit.
